A cambelt will last you between 60 000 and 100 000 kilometre (or round about five years) before it needs replacement (depending on the cambelt’s age and the manufacturer’s specifications). Cambelt replacement is a very costly job, and the most thorough way to replace a cambelt is to replace other relevant components at the same time.
Change the water pump while you are at it. (it's only about £30). It's false economy not to. If afterwards you find there are issues with the water pump, it may break the cambelt which will be expensive. If the pump doesn't last another 5/6 years then you'll have to pay all that substantial labour cost again.Thank you for your email. I can confirm the reccomended intervals for the timing belt to be changed, is every 5 years or 140’000 miles whichever comes first for the above vehicle. Since I know about the warranty (I also have a 2009 JSW 2.0 TDI with 330,000 miles :-D) I looked closely at the 3.0 warranty. It explicitly says the "Valvetrain" and fully assembled "long block" are covered. IMO the timing chain is an integral part of a fully assembled long block's valve train.
