On the R, and only on the R, there are reports of rear shocks failing and needing to be rebuild. It’s hard to figure out hard numbers, but there are a few. Just to be clear the issues are of shock leaking oil, broken seals, not broken shaft or “exploding shock” as you can read online.
KTM has given the travel segment the juiciest ‘throwback’ with the reinvigoration of the KTM 790 ADVENTURE: the original searing combo of torquey power, lithe handling and utter versatilityThe 1st 1/2 turn is just taking up the slack in the system, so when you are thinking it stops, is where is actually starts compressing the spring. Have some Wheaties for breakfast and put some effort into it. Lastly, if you have trouble counting the number of turns, you might have more serious issues than adding preload to your new bike.
You may have a Karoo 3 that takes you to 115 mph no problems. Change out wheels to identical tires and at 85 mph there is an induced wobble. Karoo 3’s are R rated to 106 mph. TKC 80’s Q rating 100 mph. I had a KTM 1290 Super Adventure T which came with Conti Trial 2’s. which are V rated tires 149 mph.
